Recently, a 50-second trailer for a LEGO James Bond game appeared online, bringing this project, which has never seen the light of day, to the public.
Although the title showing the trailer is for Lego Dimensions, a mod of the legogaming subreddit, LEGOGameMuseum, has made a clarification:
“This wasn't actually for LEGO Dimensions year 3, it was produced as a pitch for The LEGO group to convince them to give the ok for a full game, it was made during the last year Dimensions was being worked on when Tt knew Dimensions wouldn't get a third year of content.”
The Lego Dimensions, developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Games, is an action-adventure game released in 2015. The game allows players to explore different worlds together with iconic characters from franchises like DC and The Lord of the Rings, including Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle, in one Lego video game. According to the mod, this newly appeared trailer was created when the developer wrapped up the development of The Lego Dimensions and prepared something new.
Now we know that The Lego Group never nodded to the pitch, resulting in the project being canceled. As for the possible reason, it’s said that “TLG decided Bond wasn't suitable” because of the “violence and sexual innuendo. Characters called Pussy Galore and Plenty O'Tool wouldn't really work in a family friendly LEGO game.”

Of course, there was never an official statement or reveal of the project, not to mention the real reason why it was dead in the end. So, there has been some discussion among fans who feel sad and pitiful about the project. They believe that the Lego James Bond game could be materialized, considering Gremlins was introduced to the game in 2016 with the Gremlins Team Pack.
“TLG these days seems more willing to try different things in games, so it could potentially be revisited, the biggest barrier for Tt would be WB forcing them to stick to owned IP,” said mod LEGOGameMuseum.
