Tutorial: Cell-Based Damage in Substance Designer

A new quick guide by Gustav Engman will show you how to create nice-looking damaged surfaces.

Gustav Engman shared a post on how he made his broken concrete substance. The new mini-tutorial shows how you can create something similar to use in an environment. The artist explained a highly procedural way to create damage for any kind of material with parts broken into smaller chunks.

You will start by creating a material with any kind of pattern you prefer. The initial material doesn't need major damage. As an example, the artist used a worn terracotta floor with exposed mortar and pieces of gravel.
