Tutorial: Foliage Creation for Games

Here's a new tutorial on creating vegetation for games, released by FastTrack Tutorials.

FastTrack Tutorials, a company that is dedicated to creating real-time courses on 3D art for games, has released a new tutorial on creating easy foliage. In this tutorial, Senior 3D Environment Artist and the owner of FastTrack Tutorials Emiel Sleegers shows how to create various types of foliage like trees, shrubs, ivy, grass, plants, and more. You will also learn how to create foliage decals, custom leaf, and branch textures and how to place foliage in your environment.

Almost all greenery will be created using SpeedTree. Emiel will also show how to use Maya and set everything up inside Unreal Engine 5 to create fantastic vegetation. You will also use Photoshop and Marmoset Toolbag for the decals and leaf textures.

According to the author, this tutorial is best suited for students who have familiarity with 3D Modeling tools and Unreal Engine.

Emiel Sleegers is a great Environment Artist who has worked for Playground Games on Forza Horizon 3 and Ubisoft on The Division plus its DLCs. Back in 2021, Emiel had joined 80 Level to share the workflow behind the Abandoned Tunnel project, explain the asset-creation process, and discuss the advantages of Unreal Engine 5. You can check our interview with the artist here.

You can get the tutorial for $29.99 here. Also, don't forget to join our new Reddit pageour new Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we are sharing breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
