Twitch streamer Joshua Khane says Microsoft deleted his account after it was hacked, and after Microsoft acknowledged the breach.
Microsoft confirmed that unauthorized access had occurred but permanently suspended the account due to updates to its security settings. The action is "irreversible," the response reads. This meant losing access to his games and OneDrive files – purchases from the games store would need to be renewed on a new account, with no way to recover the files from the drive.
"25 years of data, thousands of euros spent on games?? My son's baby pictures? GONE!" Khane shares.
Recently, another similar situation occurred, and it had a happy ending: João Nasser, an Xbox owner from Brazil, received compensation for moral damages of about $400 after a hack, and the user's account was unblocked.
