Ubisoft Announced Rainbow Six Mobile

The new Ubisoft title will be "the full-fat version of Rainbow Six Siege that everyone knows and loves" which is adjusted to mobile devices.

Ubisoft officially announced the mobile FPS shooter Rainbow Six Mobile for iOS and Android. Developers describe their new title as "the full-fat version of Rainbow Six Siege that everyone knows and loves" which is adjusted to mobile devices.

Like in Siege, the first-person shooter will feature 5v5 matches and have similar core gameplay, characters, and maps. Although the developers noted that they "rebuilt everything from the ground up with mobile usability in mind" including an "entirely new gameplay control system developed specifically for mobile and extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation".

In Rainbow Six Mobile, the matches will be shorter – 8-12 minutes each – as well as the HUD has been adjusted to work for mobile. According to the game's key art operators will be Caveira, Bandit, Smoke, Valkyrie, Mute, Ash, Sledge, Twitch, Thermite, and Hibana. Some of the characters have been redesigned, although their equipment will be similar to the one in Siege. The developers also introduced two maps, Bank and Border, with others yet to be announced in the near future.

In a statement, the devs emphasized that the mobile title will not affect the development of its console counterpart and that their goal does not include having fans "stop playing on PC or console and switch to mobile". " We know there is nothing like the adrenaline rush of a close Siege match on the big screen or the precision of a mouse and keyboard," they said. "Since we can’t carry our monitors with us everywhere, Rainbow Six Mobile will give you the opportunity to play the game you love in short, accessible bursts, while also enabling millions of new players to get the R6 experience."

The game is being developed by an independent team based in Montreal that, according to the statement, is focused on the production of the mobile FPS and is comprised of game industry veterans who previously worked both on the AAA console and mobile games.
