Ubisoft Denied Rumors That It Is Working on a Blade Game

Ubisoft took to Twitter to address the suggestion that it might be developing a Blade title, stating that it has no such project in the works but "can't wait to see" the Blade movie which is due out in 2023.

Ubisoft has denied rumors that it is making a game based on Marvel's half-vampire hybrid and a vampire hunter Blade.

On Sunday, YouTuber JorRaptor published a video suggesting that Ubisoft might be working on a Blade game. In the video, JorRaptor cited Instagram posts made back in July showing photos of actors Alex Martin and Edwin Gaffney, who previously starred as Chris Miller in Detroit: Stay Human, wearing motion capture suits with Ubisoft name tags on them.

The images also depicted the two actors holding weapons that resemble the kind of sword that Blade uses. Based on this, the YouTuber made a suggestion that one of the actors could play Blade, while the other might be Blade's mentor, Jamal Afari.

In one of the posts, Gaffney added some hashtags including #ubisoft and #ubisoftgames which might also suggest that the actors were recording motion capture for a Ubisoft game.

However, Jor Raptor also drew attention to another photo posted by both Martin and Gaffney in which Gaffney is holding a clapperboard which names the production as "Marvel". The clapperboard also reveals the name of the director – B. Tariq – which is most certainly Bassam Tariq who is directing the Blade reboot which is scheduled for release in November 2023.

Ubisoft later published a statement denying that it is working on a Blade title. "Sorry to slice up the rumors, we're not making a Blade game but we can't wait to see what our friends at Marvel Studios are cooking up for next year's movie," the statement reads. So, it is still unclear what project these photos actually refer to.
