IDV officially stated that Ubisoft is purchasing SpeedTree tech to use in the wide variety of 3d games.
Ubisoft closed a global partnership deal with SpeedTree for Games to ensure that all development teams have access to the game industry’s most popular vegetation modeling and rendering software.

Ubisoft and SpeedTree has been working before. The new contract just extends the partnership and grants access to the SpeedTree-generated vegetation to a broad array of Ubisoft® studios. This basically means you’re going to see SpeedTree assets in future installments of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. This is quite understandable since Ubisoft creates some of the biggest open world projects with vast amounts of vegetation.
