Set against a backdrop of modern China.
Going home could be one of the happiest things for many, a time to gather with family on holidays. But imagine arriving at your once-familiar home to find everything strangely changed. Despite the layout being the same, many things are different in unsettling ways. This is the starting point of No Return.
"No Return is a first-person psychological horror game set in modern-day China. With a focus on family tragedy, the story unfolds as our protagonist is mysteriously prevented from returning home by an unseen force."
Drawing inspiration from classic horror games like Silent Hill, No Return puts you in an uncanny realm of déjà vu. Here, fantasy and reality interweave, and each fragmented memory serves as a clue to unravel the mystery. The high-quality environments and sound effects make it feel as though you're trapped in a dream you can't wake up from.
The game's puzzles are based on Chinese folklore, leading you through ritual ceremonies like sacrificing the many Gods that some traditional Chinese families would have a set for at their houses, usually Jade Emperor, ancestors, the Kitchen God who protects the family, and the Land God who protects the land.
No Return
No Return goes beyond being a simple horror game. It's about delving into a tragic family story and healing a broken home. The story, filled with layers of pain and a relentless search for truth, slowly unfolds with each memory collected.
The game is set to be launched in the third quarter of this year. Feel free to add it to your wishlist on Steam if you would like to try this horror set in mysterious Eastern culture.
