Unity has recently published its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2023 and the entire year, showing an increase in revenue and a decrease in net losses for both Q4 and FY 2023.
According to the report, in Q4, Unity generated $609 million in revenue, marking a 35% increase compared to the previous year.
Unity's increase in quarterly revenue was driven by a partnership with Weta FX. Despite ending their collaboration in November 2023 and ceasing services, Unity and Weta FX entered into a perpetual license agreement for Weta FX tools, now owned by Unity. The revenue generated from this agreement for Unity is $99 million, offsetting a 2% quarterly revenue decline without it.
The majority of Unity's fourth-quarter revenue came from the Grow Solutions segment amounting to $319 million, a 26% increase year-over-year. Revenue from the Create Solutions segment saw a substantial 47% growth to $290 million.
Unity also reported a net loss of $254 million for the fourth quarter of 2023, a jump from the $288 million loss the previous year.
Overall, 2023 was a more successful year for Unity than 2022, with total revenue reaching $2.18 billion and a net loss of $826 million, compared to $1.4 billion in revenue and a net loss of $919.5 million in 2022. Looking ahead to 2024, Unity anticipates revenue in the range of $1.76 to $1.8 billion.
