Unofficial PC Version of Bloodborne Could Arrive in 2 Weeks

The shadPS4-powered port of the beloved soulslike is reportedly launching sooner than we expected.

It seems that thanks to the rapid development of shadPS4, a new PlayStation 4 emulator that's been gaining attention in the emulation community over the past few months, combined with the enthusiasm of some dedicated individuals, the long-awaited PC port of FromSoftware's Bloodborne is coming much sooner than anyone could have predicted.

One of those "dedicated individuals" is Developer and Modder known online as fromsoftserve, who recently shared nearly an hour of footage showcasing Bloodborne's gameplay on PC. Based on what's been shown, the unofficial port already looks almost identical to the original PS4 version, aside from a few crashes here and there and upscaled textures that fromsoftserve modified himself using a custom-made mod.

Although the modder's shadPS4-powered take on Bloodborne is not without its flaws, requiring frequent restarts, for instance, the gameplay experience it offers already looks remarkably smooth and, according to emulation enthusiast Pirat_Nation, may become fully playable within the next couple of weeks:

While, as is always the case with fan-made projects, the estimated timeline should be taken with a grain of salt, it's not hard to believe that a fully complete port could indeed arrive by the end of this month, considering the speed at which the project has advanced. Less than a month ago, we were celebrating just getting the game to boot on PC via the aforementioned emulator, and now modders are demonstrating hours of gameplay footage with stunning visuals and gameplay faithful to the original.

Attached below are some of the earlier demos shared by fromsoftserve, you can check out more by visiting the modder's YouTube channel:

Back in late August, YouTuber Deck Wizard also employed shadPS4 to port Bloodborne to Valve's Steam Deck, successfully launching the game on the handheld and playing it at around 30 FPS.

And here are some Bloodborne PC videos shared by the shadPS4 team itself:

As the Bloodborne community is awakening at the prospect of finally experiencing their favorite soulslike on a new platform, Sony, the game's publisher, is lamenting its supposed lack of original IPs, seemingly overlooking the obvious elephant in the room that is Bloodborne. With rumors circulating about a new Bloodborne project in development, it seems it would be in Sony's best interest to give the game some long-overdue attention, especially now that the company's name is associated with the failure of Concord in the minds of many.
