Valve has officially confirmed that Mac users will not be able to play Counter-Strike 2. In a recent FAQ letter shared by Valve, the company clarified that the game will not be compatible with DirectX 9, 32-bit operating systems, and macOS.

"As technology advances, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue support for older hardware, including DirectX 9 and 32-bit operating systems. Similarly, we will no longer support macOS. Combined, these represented less than one percent of active CS: GO players," as stated on Steam.

To address the issue for those who cannot run Counter-Strike 2 due to hardware limitations, Valve recommends accessing an older version of CS: GO. However, it's important to note that support for this version will be discontinued on January 1, 2024.

"DirectX 9 and/or 32-bit Windows users are eligible for a Prime Status Upgrade refund if their purchase was made on Steam between the announcement of the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test (March 22, 2023) and the launch of Counter-Strike 2 (September 27, 2023). CD keys, gifts, and accounts with bans are not eligible for a refund," Valve explained.

Valve has added that Counter-Strike 2 will be exclusively available for 64-bit Windows and Linux operating systems. This strategic decision aims to optimize the game's performance and ensure seamless compatibility on these platforms. By focusing on 64-bit Windows and Linux, Counter-Strike 2 will take full advantage of the advanced capabilities and resources offered by these operating systems. Players might expect improved graphics, smoother gameplay, and enhanced overall experience since they have already shared their complaints with the company via reviews on Steam. Hopefully, the company will address the technical problems, such as low FPS, freezing, and other technical difficulties, connected to performance, or return the ability to "twerk" in the game to leave fans pleased.
