VFX Artist Recreated This Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Scene In A Week

See how Erik Rasmussen did Rey's famous jump.

Erik Rasmussen, known online as ErikDoesVFX, is an experienced VFX artist with a portfolio that includes work on major films and shows like The Witcher, Maleficent, and WandaVision. In addition to his professional work, he teaches Houdini and takes on personal projects, including recreating high-end studio VFX on his home computer.

Inspired by the desert scene from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, where Rey takes down Kylo Ren's ship in an impressive jump, Erik decided to create his own version, placing it within the snowy mountains of his homeland, Norway. In this breakdown video, the artist walks through each step of the production process, discussing the challenges he encountered along the way while also providing a brief analysis of the Star Wars VFX.
