A whole playable build of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has recently been leaked online. Parts of the 75 GB of data could be seen in gameplay footage on YouTube, but we recommend avoiding it if you want the true experience on September 9.
Plus, the build dates back to February 23, 2024, according to Insider Gaming, so it might be different from the final game.
Space Marine 2's developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment were not happy to hear the news, obviously. In a post on X/Twitter, they asked fans not to play this "unfinished" build, which will be nearly a year old by the release.
"Our teams have poured years of hard work, passion, and dedication into creating a game worthy of your hopes and expectations, and it's disheartening that many of the surprises we worked to keep secret were spoiled. We're saddened that this build, which will be almost a year old by the time we launch, is how some of our most eager fans will first experience Space Marine 2."
Space Marine 2 was announced in 2021 and was supposed to come out in 2023, but it got delayed, so I'm not too surprised this long wait turned into the leak. Still, the launch is almost upon us, and I hope most players have a little more patience and won't peek into the game too early.
"The best way to support our teams' hard work is to play the game as they've always intended," said Saber and Focus.
