A number of projects across different branches of art have seemingly had their preview images unexpectedly broken.
As many of you know, here on 80 Level we, by our website's very nature, are huge fans of ArtStation, spending hours each day browsing through thousands of incredible projects shared there – whether to find artists for interviews or simply for our own aesthetic enjoyment.
That's why today, while doing just that, it felt unusual to see something being not quite right – a number of artworks showing black, white, pink, and gray boxes instead of thumbnails, with parts of models and illustrations inexplicably cut off, resulting in the feed looking something like this:
Affecting all three main tabs of the website – Community, Trending, and Latest, with Trending seemingly being impacted the most – the bug appears to have randomly zoomed in portions of images artists selected as their thumbnails. Judging by how things look, the issue has affected different branches of art without making any exceptions, including 3D, 2D, concept art, props, characters, digital sculpts, and more. It's also worth noting that, at the time of writing, the glitch doesn't seem to be widespread, impacting a relatively small percentage of all artworks shared on the platform.
The list of creators affected by the bug includes, but is not limited to, Slava Markovin, Andrey Gornyy, seven七七七, Francesco Orrù, Kelly Daley, NineAssets, Oleg Polin, Gavin Rothery, Nikita Krivosheev, Julee Sakova, Roman Novikov, Timur Karimov, Melissa Kumpmann, Davood Moghaddami, Sofia Vernigorova, ENTANGLED Studio, Qi Ze, and Viacheslav Krylov, so, if your name appears here, please note that the linked project of yours currently has one of these glitched thumbnails.
At the moment, the cause of the bug remains unclear. 80 Level has reached out to the ArtStation team to inform them of the issue and ask about the reasons behind it, and will update the story if a response is received.
