Why Capcom Removed Points for Erotica Photos in Dead Rising Remaster
It's not because of a "changing cultural climate."
Capcom
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will bring back journalism and zombies, but some players will be disappointed to see no points for a particular genre of photos, and Capcom has an explanation for disgruntled fans.
In the original game, you play as Frank West, a photojournalist trapped in a town full of zombies. The photos he takes are filed under several categories – brutality, drama, outtake, horror, and erotica – and give you points.
Unfortunately for some, the other day, Capcom revealed that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster won't award those points for erotica anymore. According to VG247, this is not a response to "a changing cultural climate, but because we felt there is no need to have a reward points system on this basis."
"Additionally, when considering Frank’s situation, it is not an appropriate reward for survival and not a skill required of a journalist trying to stay alive for the next 72 hours during a zombie apocalypse. However, players will still have the right to choose their picture subjects freely, and even though they won’t receive points, it is up to them to decide what photos they will take to represent their journey."
As a result, one of the quests, where you need to take a photo in the erotica genre, will ask you for an outtake photo instead.
I expect a stream of spicy pictures once the game is out, taken just to "spite" Capcom somehow (it won't be bothered, I'm telling you now.)
