WoW's First-Ever 2D Animated Short Film Unveils Alleria's Story

As the launch of The War Within approaches, additional information about "one of Azeroth’s most formidable heroes" has been shared.

Yesterday, World of Warcraft dropped a mysterious teaser, which is a 6-second cinematic 2D animation featuring a unique art style, accompanied by simple text: Soon.

This short teaser has stirred quite a lot of guesses in the community. The teaser ends up with a World of Warcraft: The War Within logo, and that’s what leads some players to believe it’s simply for promotion of the upcoming tenth expansion. Some fans have thought, or accurately saying dreamed, it could be a WoW animated TV show.

It didn’t take much time for fans to finally understand what it really is, as Blizzard later posted their “first fully 2D animated short film”, titled Alleria: Light and Shadow, providing some additional information about Alleria Windrunner, one of the most important characters in the franchise.

“This 5-minute fully animated short delves into Alleria’s deep connection with her sisters Sylvanas and Vereesa, her sacrifices for family and love, and her ultimate transformation into a weapon of the void. Watch as Alleria faces the darkness within and rises to defend the world she loves.”
