Xbox Game Pass' Revenue From Console Subscribtions Was $2.9bn in 2021
The figure was disclosed in a document published by the Brazilian competition regulator.
Microsoft's revenue from console Xbox Game Pass subscriptions was $2.9 billion in the fiscal year 2021. That's according to the documents published by the Brazilian competition regulator CADE which was one of the first watchdogs that approved Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
While Microsoft doesn't typically share this kind of information with its shareholders, the $2.9 figure got to be in the public domain as the Brazilian regulator makes all documents for the process available online.
It should be noted that the figure represents only the revenue from the console versions of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and doesn't take into account the data on the service's performance on the PC.
The document also does not specify how exactly the revenue of $2.9 billion was calculated and whether it includes microtransactions and in-game content sales from the games that are included in the Game Pass subscription or it only reflects earnings from subscribing to the Game Pass.
As noticed by Tweaktown, the $2.9 billion figure represents 18% of Microsoft's revenue from gaming for FY 2021 as well as nearly 30% of the company's games and services revenues for the period.
