Following the recent finalization of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard a few weeks ago, the company is going to restructure the leadership of Xbox, with executives Sarah Bond and Matt Booty being promoted to assume more active roles while maintaining seamless operations.
Yesterday The Verge shared Phil Spencer's Microsoft memo on the upcoming changes regarding the new Xbox leadership. According to the note, Sarah Bond has been elevated to the position of Xbox President, making her the first female president in Xbox history. In her new role, she will provide strategic leadership and oversee the Xbox hardware and software business.
"To manage the platform of today, and build the platform of tomorrow, we are bringing together the teams that will make this possible. Sarah Bond will lead this team as President of Xbox — bringing together Devices, Player & Creator Experiences, Platform Engineering, Strategy, Business Planning, Data & Analytics and Business Development," stated Spencer.
The changes have affected Matt Booty as well. Formerly known as the Head of Xbox Game Studios, Booty will assume the new role of the President of Game Content and Studios, with expanded responsibilities that encompass overseeing ZeniMax and Bethesda.
"Matt Booty will lead this expanded organization as President, Game Content and Studios," as stated in the memo. ZeniMax will continue to operate as a limited integration entity led by Jamie Leder, President and CEO, reporting to Matt."
Sarah Bond and Matt Booty have taken on new positions of higher authority and supervision, raising optimism for a more unified and well-ordered Xbox team in the future. With the inclusion of Activision Blizzard among its studios, one can expect additional modifications and adjustments to the company's framework.
