Valve has introduced a new feature named Steam Families, which is currently available in beta. Steam Families combines and replaces the previous Steam Family Sharing and Steam Family View features.
The new feature allows for game sharing between up to six linked accounts. You can access and play games from the libraries of other family members, even when they are online playing a different game. Each player can create their own saved games, earn Steam achievements, and access workshop files.

In addition, Steam Families provides more robust parental control features. Parents can set limits on what and when games are played, monitor activity, and manage access to the Steam Store, Community, or Friends Chat.
Playtime limits can be set on an hourly or daily basis, and playtime reports can be viewed. Parents can also approve or deny requests from child accounts for additional playtime or feature access, and recover a child's account in case of a lost password.

Furthermore, Steam Families introduces a new payment option to simplify the process of purchasing games for child accounts. Children can request an in-family adult to pay for their shopping cart, with the adult able to approve and pay for the purchase from their mobile device or email. Once approved, all games from the shopping cart will be added to the child's account.

Whether a game can be shared with Steam Families is up to the game's maker. If a game could be shared under the old system, it will still be shareable in the new system unless the game's maker decides to change this.
