You'd Better Not to Play Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth All at Once or "You'll Get Sick"

The developer says that the upcoming game will be the longest they've made so far.

In a recent interview, Masayoshi Yokoyama, the Head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, shared that the upcoming Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth game will be the most extensive Yakuza game ever. Yokoyama refers to it as a "monster-class game" surpassing anything they have previously created, hinting that completing it will require more than just a few nights.

"This means that a lot of people are going to hesitate to play the game or will end up having it wait on their shelves. I found the possibility of that kind of outcome sad, so I thought, we have to get everyone hyped up enough to play it," added Yokoyama.

Yokoyama also said that they need to encourage people to play the game within a short time frame, like "in about a week or a month, even at the cost of their health", adding that they believe creators must generate enough excitement around the game.

"I've thought this way for the past year or two – for a game like Infinite Wealth, we have to get a festival going on. It would feel kind of rude to just drop such a long game and be done with it," he continued with a laugh.

The idea of Infinite Wealth being both the longest Yakuza game and incorporating significant elements like the Animal Crossing-style island is quite overwhelming. It makes sense that Yokoyama expects many people to be deterred by such a lengthy game, but he also sees the need to prepare players to be ready to commit to it fully.

The demo for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is now available, but only with the purchase of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

Earlier, the creators from Ryu Ga Gotoku talked about the Like a Dragon franchise's fast-paced releases, sharing that in their pursuit of capturing modern trends, they strive to ensure that their franchise games are released promptly.
