The PS5 Slim has sparked comparisons with its original counterpart, with some noting that the sleeker design doesn't offer a significant size reduction.
YouTuber Dave2D has shared an in-depth teardown of the new console, showcasing its slimmer profile and the updated outer cover, which now features a combination of matte and gloss finishes. Interestingly, due to the design changes, panels from the original PS5 are not compatible with the Slim, as the latter consists of distinct separate pieces.
Weight was another aspect Dave2D highlighted, pointing out that the original PS5 weighs either 3.9kg or 3.3kg, depending on the version, while the Slim weighs 3.2kg or 2.6kg respectively, depending on the model.
Dave also expressed disappointment regarding the lack of a stand included for vertical use, with users having to purchase it separately. Additionally, it was noted that the Slim likely does not have a new chip, as the power consumption was slightly higher compared to the original system.
