This subscriber-exclusive release is set to feature a new Anchors brush, updates to the Contact system and Morph brush, and two new sliders for Spotlight.
During its recent presentation, Maxon officially introduced ZBrush 2023.2, an upcoming update to their digital 3D sculpting application. Set to be launched later today, the release will feature a new Anchors brush, updates to the Contact system, and Morph brush, along with the incorporation of two new sliders for Spotlight.
The highlight of the update is the new Anchors brush, which allows users to define anchor points along a SubTool's length, granting them the ability to manipulate the geometry between those designated points. This new brush offers several modes, such as Move, Rotate, Scale, Inflate, and Twist. According to Maxon, the demonstrated brush is only "version one", implying that its functionality will continue to evolve in future releases.
ZBrush's Contact feature has also received an update, allowing users to snap pieces of geometry together with ease. Now, you can draw a transpose line between two SubTools, and ZBrush will automatically move and rotate the first SubTool, aligning it precisely to the second one using surface normals.
Another notable update is the integration of the Morph brush with the Undo history. This enhancement allows you to place markers at any specific moment in the Undo history and seamlessly morph between them. Lastly, the release introduces a pair of additional slider controls to Spotlight, the projection texturing system in ZBrush, which govern the behavior of surface displacement when applying an alpha
As per Maxon's updated upgrade policy, the new features introduced in ZBrush 2023.2 will be exclusively accessible to subscribers. The update is scheduled to be released later today, you can visit Mason's official website so as not to miss it.
