Here's what we know so far about a completely redesigned ZBrush, meticulously crafted to optimize every feature for a seamless sculpting experience on iPad.
Back in October, Maxon finally announced what so many 3D artists have been waiting for – ZBrush will be coming for iPad with a fully reimagined user interface and touch-based controls. Since then, the developers started gradually revealing the app's interface and functionality, and in this article, we've collected everything we know so far about the new ZBrush, including the first 3D creations made with iPad.
May's Apple Event, which was mostly focused on the new iPad Pro with the next-generation M4 chip and an infamous advertisement, was the first time we got a very brief glimpse of ZBrush for iPad interface. As you can see in the picture below, it's a streamlined version of the desktop ZBrush with toolbars along all sides of the screen to optimize the workspace:

A reasonable question arises – will the iPad be able to handle exceptionally high-poly counts? According to the developers, ZBrush for iPad easily manipulates high-polygon models and even enables artists to transfer projects between ZBrush for desktop and iPad, maintaining seamless workflow continuity across devices.
ZBrush for iPad claims to provide the same multi-resolution mesh editing capabilities found inside the desktop version, allowing the creation of realistic characters or layered environments. To ensure an optimal mobile experience, the app received touch capabilities, providing artists with more sculptural freedom. ZBrush for iPad offers a collection of digital sculpting brushes, and you can extend your creative dexterity by working in both touch and pen-driven modes or a fusion of both.
As for painting and texturing, the developers promise PolyPaint system activating with a simple click and an even more complex range of design options, allowing you to mix and apply color to digital sculptures in real-time while continuing to make physical changes to your models. And of course, you can turn the pictures taken with the iPad into textures.

While ZBrush for iPad is set to launch later this year with no release date yet, the developers invite artists to apply for the beta. We also highly encourage you to follow Maxon on X/Twitter to keep tabs on any announcements and updates.
