ZBrush Fundamentals: From Scratch to the First Projects

Art Heroes, a school for artists, announced a new course, that covers all ZBrush features for creating the first projects in 4 weeks.

ZBrush Fundamentals course teaches everything you need to know about the software, as an artist. The mentors will explain how to create the first projects from scratch in ZBrush. The mentors noted that the course is relevant for beginners.

'You will know what the software can do for you and how to achieve the result through multiple paths to find out what's more comfortable for you. You're the artist, so we want to give you the freedom to operate and make amazing projects. We're giving a solid overview of the software with production needs in mind: when you work with clients, you need to know what's required and how to make your project technically correct.', says the mentors of Art Heroes.

Course Instructors:

Marlon R. Nunez, Art Director, and Co-Founder at Art Heroes. Marlon has been a part of some of the worlds' best teams, from EA, Blur, Goodbye Kansas, and RealtimeUK. Marlon specializes in digital humans and one of his big passions is creating stylized characters.

Alfredo Baro, Character artist and modeler, and a year-round instructor at Art Heroes. He currently lives in Mexico, freelances, and constantly works on personal projects.

The total duration of video content is 7 h 15 min. The program is designed for self-study at a time that suits your lifestyle. You are expected to complete one module per week and report your progress:

  • Module 1. ZBrush Basics (Interface, Brushes, IMM Brushes, Materials, Tool panel)
  • Module 2. Organic Sculpting (Sculpting techniques, Dynamesh and sculptis pro, Extracting shapes, Detailing, Alphas, Installing custom interface)
  • Module 3. Hard surface (Polygroups and Z-modeler, Z-remesher, Booleans, Panel-looping and group-looping, Free hard-surface sculpting, Working with project primitives)
  • Module 4. Polypainting (Polypainting, Polypainting with alphas, Different strokes, and setup, Working with spotlight)
  • Module 5. Rendering (Light settings in ZBrush, Render passes + PS, NPR rendering, Keyshot bridge).
