The money will go towards expanding the studio as well as further development of Zenith: The Last City.
Ramen VR, the developer behind VR MMO Zenith: The Last City, announced it has secured $35 million in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Anthos and Dune with the participation of such investors as Makers and Andreessen Horowitz.
The company states that the funding will go towards transforming Zenith into a "gaming super-app containing multiple worlds and gameplay experiences across VR, desktop, and mobile" and the expansion of the studio's staff. According to Ramen VR's job listing, the company is currently recruiting for 11 positions across art, engineering, operations, and production.
Co-founder and CEO of Ramen VR Andy Tsen shared: "The reception for Zenith has been amazing. We're already profitable but now we want to take the game to the next level, building massive interconnected gaming worlds for all to explore." He also added that, apart from growing the team, the funding will allow the company to "build out [its] vision" for the game.
Ramen VR was founded in 2019 by Lauren Frazier and Andy Tsen, and its debut game, Zenith: The Last City, released in January 2022, enjoyed a huge success becoming the number one top-selling game on multiple platforms including Steam, Rift, and Quest.
