Zombie Apocalypse Is a Step Closer with Meta Quest 3's Mixed Reality

You can defend your home from monsters in Drop Dead.

Meta Quest 3's Passthrough feature opens many doors for awesome experiences in Mixed Reality. Have you ever thought about how you're going to fight off zombies when the time comes? Well, now you can practice in Drop Dead using Meta's headset.

"Are you among the few that will survive? Gather supplies, arm up, and fight off waves of the walking dead that have escaped from an evil lab experiment. We expect you to die – a lot, each time you fall, you will earn XP to upgrade your character and weapons, making you stronger and bringing you one step closer to beating the game."

As Redditor lunchanddinner demonstrated, the game takes your apartment, adds some hungry zombies crawling from your windows and doors, and allows you to deal with them how you see fit. The monsters can even break the walls pretty realistically, adding to the immersion.

Here are some more videos if you need to see whether you'd like it:

This is all the Home Invasion game mode, a part of the original Drop Dead: The Cabin, which can be played as a VR game in co-op. I've tried to find out if you can play the MR mode together with your friends in the same house, but it doesn't seem so. Let me know if I'm wrong, though.

We're getting to see more and more MR games, and it's fascinating. Imagine if you could dig up your yard and then build a nice Minecraft-like house there... Oh wait, you already can! Check out BlockVerse here to learn the details.

I expect to see even more cool experiences that allow you to introduce elements from your favorite games to your real-life house.
