We're currently developing Responding, an open-world emergency services simulator built in Unreal Engine 5, set in a New York-inspired environment.

The project is already live on Steam and focuses heavily on systemic simulation, including large-scale AI traffic, emergency response gameplay, and open-world interactions.

We're looking for a Character Clothing & Equipment 3D Artist to help modernize and expand our uniforms, tactical equipment, and wearable assets while establishing scalable workflows for future content.

What you'll be working on:

This is not a traditional character artist role.

You'll be working on systems such as:

  • Creating high-quality, game-ready character clothing and equipment.
  • Building modular uniforms that support multiple body types.
  • Optimizing UV layouts and shared texture workflows.
  • Creating scalable clothing pipelines for future content.
  • Collaborating with animation and gameplay teams to ensure high-quality deformation.
  • Producing assets optimized for Unreal Engine 5.

Our goal is to build a highly modular clothing system that allows us to efficiently create and expand uniforms across multiple emergency service departments.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has extensive experience creating high-quality, game-ready character clothing and equipment.
  • Is proficient with Marvelous Designer, Maya and/or Blender.
  • Has experience creating modular clothing systems for games.
  • Has strong knowledge of UV optimization, shared textures, trim sheets, and efficient material usage.
  • Understands Unreal Engine 5 asset pipelines and real-time rendering constraints.
  • Can take ownership of features and propose efficient production workflows.

You do NOT need to be perfect in every area. We value quality, problem-solving, and adaptability over a perfect checklist.

Bonus experience:

  • Character customization systems.
  • Unreal Engine 5.
  • Cloth simulation.
  • Rigging or skinning.
  • Military, law enforcement, or tactical equipment.
  • Procedural clothing workflows.

Project context:

  • Open-world UE5 project.
  • Already released on Steam (early-stage but actively growing).
  • Small, focused team with a strong technical foundation.
  • Long-term development with ongoing content and system expansion.

Engagement:

  • Contract-based (with potential for long-term collaboration).

Remote:

  • Flexible scope depending on your strengths

How to apply:

Send:

  • Portfolio showcasing relevant character clothing work.
  • Brief explanation of your experience with modular clothing workflows.
  • (Optional) Breakdown of your optimization workflow.
