Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, create, and integrate real-time gameplay VFX using Houdini, Maya, Unreal Engine (Niagara), and Substance Designer, and adapt them for use within the project’s proprietary engine pipeline.
- Develop a wide range of gameplay and environmental VFX, including particles, fire, smoke, water, with a strong focus on timing, readability, and visual impact.
- Create materials, shaders, and textures to support high-quality and performant real-time effects.
- Collaborate closely with art, animation, technical, and game design teams to ensure VFX aligns with the overall artistic vision and gameplay needs.
- Translate concepts and references into visually compelling and technically feasible VFX solutions.
- Optimize VFX assets to meet real-time performance constraints (frame rate, memory, and engine limitations).
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and adapt to evolving production requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Take ownership of tasks, working both independently and collaboratively, while meeting deadlines.
- Communicate directly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine and improve work.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience as a VFX artist or in a related job.
- Strong portfolio showcasing real-time/gameplay VFX, demonstrating both artistic and technical skills.
- Relevant background in Art/Design (Diploma, Degree, or self-taught with a strong portfolio).
- Strong technical proficiency in VFX creation and implementation.
- Proficiency in Houdini, Maya, Unreal Engine, and Substance Designer.
- Solid understanding of real-time VFX workflows, including optimization techniques and performance constraints.
- Strong sense of timing, motion, and visual storytelling in gameplay VFX.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and deliver high-quality work in a production environment.
- Willingness to work onsite or relocate.
