Сutting-edge technology company focused on revolutionizing animation and interactivity in video games

Latent Technology is a cutting-edge technology company focused on revolutionizing animation and interactivity in video games through generative and physics-based systems. The company develops advanced AI-driven animation technology that allows virtual characters to respond and move naturally in real time, without pre-defined keyframes or transitions. Their mission is to make game worlds feel truly alive - where characters, objects, and environments dynamically interact based on physics and emergent behavior.

Latent Technology’s approach marks a shift from traditional animation pipelines toward real-time, generative physics animation, enabling developers to create immersive, emergent gameplay experiences. Their technology eliminates the need for handcrafted transitions and blending, replacing them with autonomous, physics-based behaviors that react directly to in-game environments.

The company’s mission is to bring magical experiences back to the fingertips of players and game creators. Latent Technology believes that the sense of magic that once defined video games has diminished due to repetitive design and production limitations. By leveraging AI and deep learning, they aim to redefine how virtual worlds are created and experienced, combining cutting-edge technology with meaningful and emotional gameplay experiences.

Latent Technology’s core innovation lies in its Generative Physics Engine, which powers real-time, physics-driven animation. Unlike traditional ragdoll systems or motion blending, their physical rigs react dynamically to the environment and drive their own muscles in real time - producing lifelike, emergent motion.

Key features of their technology include:

  • Physics-Based Character Animation: Characters move, react, and adapt to their surroundings autonomously, resulting in organic, believable motion.
  • Dynamic Emergent Interactions: Game environments and objects respond naturally to player actions without pre-scripted sequences.
  • Cost Efficiency: Developers can significantly reduce production costs by eliminating manual keyframing and extensive animation work.
  • Real-Time Adaptability: Developers can modify physical parameters such as stiffness, weight, or injury states on the fly, allowing for endless gameplay variation.
  • Instant Activation: Generative Physics can be turned on or off in-game, giving creators full control over when and how emergent behavior occurs.

This technology enables developers to create unique, dynamic experiences in seconds, transforming how interactivity is built and experienced in games.

Latent Technology was co-founded by Jorge del Val (CEO) and Jack Harmer (CTO).

Jorge del Val has a strong background in deep learning, having worked as a research engineer across the gaming, enterprise, and academic sectors. His expertise lies in applying machine learning and reinforcement learning techniques to complex problems, and he is passionate about using AI to transform industries.

Jack Harmer holds a PhD in Physics and specializes in deep learning and reinforcement learning applications for interactive simulations. With experience in major video game studios, he focuses on bridging the gap between AI-driven research and real-time game development.
