2D-Style 3D Explosion Created in Blender With Geometry Nodes

Hiroshi Kanazawa demonstrated a new mind-blowing experiment with explosion FX.

Hiroshi Kanazawa, a 3DCG Artist who blew up the Internet back in 2022 with his incredible 3D explosion effects, continues to experiment with digital detonations with one more outstanding explosions-themed project set up in Blender.

This time, the creator unveiled a gorgeous anime-inspired 2D-style 3D explosion generator powered by Geometry Nodes. According to Hiroshi, the newly made generator is highly customizable and is much lighter than the previous modifier version, enabling the author to place the explosion in the scene by simply tracing it with a pen. "Now that the simulation node is installed, I would like to add animation, but it will take a long time," commented the creator.
