3D Artist Brings Lionel Messi to Digital Space With ZBrush & Substance 3D Painter

Liu Keng Chih has recreated the legendary footballer in 3D, continuing the series of realistic portraits.

Liu Keng Chih, a 3D Character Artist who specializes in creating realistic digital portraits, has recently unveiled a brand-new character model paying tribute to the legendary Argentine football player Lionel Messi.

According to Liu, the GOAT footballer was reimagined in the digital space using ZBrush for sculpting, Substance 3D Painter for texturing, and Arnold for rendering. Additionally, the artist utilized XGen, Autodesk's instancing tool most commonly used for creating hair or populating a scene with instanced geometry, to set up the athlete's hairstyle and facial hair.

"I like Messi very much," commented the creator. "Congratulations to him for winning the World Cup title last year."
