3D Artist Imagines Snoop Dogg Made Out Of Felt With Houdini & ZBrush

Alex Alvarado showcased an unusual 3D take on the legendary rapper.

Have a look at this impressive and unusual 3D take on the legendary rapper and songwriter Snoop Dogg created by Alex Alvarado, a LookDev Artist and Technical Director at Pixar specializing primarily in NPR digital characters.

Leveraging ZBrush and Houdini, the author reimagined the musician as if he was made out of felt, a type of textile produced by matting, condensing, and pressing fibers together. According to the artist, ZBrush was used for sculpting the character while rigging, animation, lighting, and felt FX were set up in Houdini. Additionally, the creator utilized RenderMan, a proprietary photorealistic 3D rendering software developed by Pixar, to render the final results.

Earlier, Alex also shared a multitude of insightful blog posts demonstrating various experiments with digital cloth. We highly encourage you to visit the artist's ArtStation page to check them out.
