80 Level Job Digest: Find Great Roles for Artists Here

Check out this week’s 80 Level Job Digest for top openings at KAFI Games, Epic Games, Embark Studios, Ubisoft, Santa Monica Studios, and Rockstar Games.

Senior 3D Artist at KAFI

We are a relentless 3-person indie team based in France, operating entirely remotely. We build games we are deeply passionate about, and right now, we are crafting a brand-new, stylized game set in space in the 1960s (which you will be working on). We previously launched The Headliners on PC in 2025, which sold over 1.4M copies.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Experience: 5+ years in game dev (indie or otherwise).
  • Stylized Vision: A sharp eye for stylized, low-poly aesthetics.
  • Autonomous & Driven: We do not micromanage. We need a doer and someone we can trust... That seems trivial to say that but we had several bad experiences in the past unfortunately...
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of your 3D package of choice (Blender, Maya, etc.) and expert-level Unreal Engine knowledge. Tech Art or optimization skills are a massive bonus.
  • Communication: Fluent English and comfort working 100% remotely from anywhere.

Lead Environment Artist at Epic Games

Epic is looking for an experienced Environment Art Lead to join the Rocket League team. In this role, you will partner closely with the Art Director to define, maintain, and elevate the visual quality of Rocket League’s worlds, balancing realism, readability, and performance across the game’s visuals. You will lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary artists and external partners to deliver high-quality environments at scale.

This role requires a strong mix of artistic vision, technical depth, and people leadership, with proven experience shipping games featuring realistic 3D environments and managing robust outsourcing pipelines. Working closely with the Art Director, Design Leads, Engineers, and Production, you will be accountable for understanding the world direction, guiding execution, reviewing work, and ensuring the team delivers visually cohesive, performant, and engaging environments.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of environment art for games, including realistic architecture, natural landscapes, and the integration of manmade and organic elements
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large outsourcing pipelines, including asset briefs, reviews, feedback, and quality control across multiple vendors
  • Experience collaborating closely with Designers to support core game loops
Strong desire and ability to grow, mentor, and lead teams with clarity and empathy
  • Experience shipping at least one commercial game with realistic 3D environments, across multiple platforms, including console and PC, ideally on live or long-running titles (Unreal Engine experience a plus)
  • Deep understanding of performance, optimization, and memory trade-offs, with a practical approach to scalability and asset reuse
  • Strong technical art knowledge, including workflows, tooling, and content integration for PBR and Photogrammetry pipelines
  • Excellent grasp of art fundamentals, composition, lighting, color theory, scale, and visual appeal
  • Experience as a Lead responsible for end-to-end environment development, including internal teams and external partners
  • Highly collaborative mindset, low-ego leadership style, and strong instincts for what makes environments fun

Concept Artist at Embark Studios

Concept Artists play an important role at Embark, not just to work with initial concept work and pitches, but also to help align the team and enable the team to reach the vision and direction. They work with all crafts and other parts of the organization to visualize and help Embark to excel.

We would love it if you had:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional concept art experience
  • Experience with 3D renders
  • Experience from character concepts is a plus
  • Excellent visual skill set, deep artistic understanding, and knowledge
  • Follow directions and deliver to quality from a visual, gameplay, and technical perspective
  • Always work to support the product, game, and the team, not to make pretty pictures
  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of the game, memory, and performance
  • Great understanding of the game play experience of the game
  • Great appreciation and knowledge for visuals within multiple media, such as games, fashion, nature, architecture, and movies
  • Estimate tasks and time, update plans, and deliver content to quality according to directions
  • Be a role model, culture carrier, and spokesperson for Embark

Texture Artist [Splinter Cell Remake] at Ubisoft

As a Texture Artist at Ubisoft Toronto, you will bring immersive and believable 3D worlds to life by creating high-quality textures that support visual storytelling. In this Texture Artist role, you will craft texture sets that elevate gameplay environments while meeting artistic direction, technical requirements, and performance goals. Working closely with multiple art disciplines, you will adapt to evolving tools and workflows and help define a cohesive visual language across the project.

Requirements:

  • Apply basic modeling skills to support texture creation and asset breakdowns
  • Use tools such as Substance Designer and work comfortably with 3D software and game engines like Unreal Engine
  • Demonstrate strong art fundamentals, including lighting, composition, proportion, and color theory
  • Understand PBR workflows and real-time game production constraints
  • Show a passion for materials, textures, and worldbuilding
  • Maintain a strong sense of scale and visual consistency across environments
  • Understand the game environment creation pipeline
  • Communicate ideas clearly and present work effectively
  • Manage time well and integrate constructive feedback
  • Apply basic shader knowledge, including layered material systems

Senior Technical Artist at Santa Monica Studio

Santa Monica Studio is seeking an experienced Technical Artist for the development of a new unannounced title.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in computer-generated art
  • Intimate knowledge of Maya and computer graphics
  • Familiarity with video game product development, including, but not limited to, workflow, tools, lighting, high and low poly modeling, texture painting, particle systems, UV layout, in-game animation, material and PBR principles, layout, SFX, and engine parameters/optimizations
  • Proficient scripting/programming experience with Python, PyQT/PySide
  • Experience with HLSL, GLSL, or similar shader languages
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and extensible code with attention to reusability
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design
  • Enthusiasm and initiative
  • Excellent spoken and written communication
  • Able and motivated to work with other team members

Associate Principal Technical Artist: Rigging at Rockstar Games

The Rockstar Games Rigging team designs, builds, and maintains highly complex runtime deformation systems for the characters, animals, vehicles, and props that bring our games to life. We drive innovation in dynamic art pipelines through rigging systems, secondary motion setups, and continually evolve our tools and workflows from asset creation to in-engine visualization.

We collaborate closely with the larger Technical Art team and related departments to ensure seamless integration where tools and pipelines intersect.
We provide support to the Animation and Art department.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of industry experience working as a character rigger, technical animator, animation engine programmer, or in a closely related role.
  • A demo reel and/or online portfolio that demonstrates exceptional rigging skills, motion control systems, and complex body and face deformation and skinning for characters and creatures.
  • Advanced Python programming and 3D math skills.
  • Strong background in runtime rigging and tool development for rigging pipelines.
  • Experience using source control software (i.e., Perforce, Git).
  • Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills.
