A Neat Sims-Like Room Editor Made for a Horror Game

The tool was made by Not a Sailor Studios' Brandon Hesslau.

Game Developer, Concept Creator, and Programmer Brandon Hesslau from Not a Sailor Studios, an indiedev studio known for A Game About Literally Doing Your Taxes and Buddy Simulator 1984, recently showcased an impressive Sims-like room editor, which was made for a game, but looks like a separate game on itself.

Created with Unity in just one weekend, the system allows the developer to set up different-sized square rooms, fill them to the brim with an assortment of appropriate assets, and even change the lighting scenarios, enabling the team to create multiple levels for the game using one convenient tool. According to Brandon, all of the walls, windows, and door sections created by the editor are dynamically generated meshes.

The developer also commented that the editor was made for Mulligan, Not a Sailor Studios' upcoming procedural multiplayer survival horror game with AI-driven monsters. You can learn more about it by visiting the studio's Twitter and YouTube pages.
