Aniket Rajnish shipped a new free tool for improving your projects' performance in Unity.
In case you missed it, a couple of days ago, Technical Artist and Developer Aniket Rajnish shipped a robust free tool for Unity designed to improve your projects' performance in the engine. Check out Unity Collider Optimizer, an impressive new add-on that optimizes Mesh and Polygon colliders in the engine.
According to the developer, the toolset consists of two parts, with the first one being the Polygon Collider Optimizer. Using a C# implementation of the Ramer Douglas Peucker Algorithm, the tool can smooth the polylines and reduce the number of paths created by a Polygon Collider in Unity.
The second tool is Mesh Collider Optimizer, which uses the Computational Geometry Unity Library by Erik Nordeus to perform the Quadric Error Metric simplification on the shared mesh of the mesh collider.
