According to the creator, the project was made using Geometry Nodes in Blender 3.5, a soon-to-be-released updated version of the software currently in alpha. The goal of the project was to test out Geometry Nodes Simulation Branch, a new feature released a couple of days ago by Blender's Jacques Lucke.
