A UE5-Based Historically Accurate Pirate RPG With Comic Book Narrative

Dive into the world of rich and historically accurate piracy of Flint: Treasure of Oblivion featuring classic Franco-Belgian comics-book-styled narration and tactical turn-based combat.

French studio Savage Level has presented the first trailer of its upcoming project, a tactical RPG starring Captain Flint, the fictional pirate and the protagonist of the classic adventure Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. The developers, however, aim to deliver a historically accurate world of piracy incorporating such elements as language, designs, and weapons to make the experience of Flint: Treasure of Oblivion as immersive as possible.

If you miss the era of Ashley Wood-illustrated Metal Gear Solid games, that time when Telltale Games brought Fables and The Walking Dead comic book series to the video games medium, or just seeking a fresh game with unusual art direction, this one might be for you. The whole story of Flint will be told through dynamic comic book panels in the style of classic Franco-Belgian comics like Asterix or The Adventures of Tintin.

"Assisted by his friend Billy Bones and his crew, Captain Flint sets sail for a mysterious treasure. If the call of the unknown galvanizes him, he doesn't yet suspect this adventure will set him free", says the game description.

In Flint you will traverse the world from the French city of Saint-Malo to the exotic landscapes of Central America, exploring diverse environments, cities, camps, jungles, and caves, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The game's combat system is turn-based and simulates dice throws and cards, typical for tabletop roleplaying. Good preparation is key: choose your crew members with unique abilities, obtain new skills, and improve your dice.

Flint: Treasure of Oblivion is scheduled to release this year on Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. We also encourage you to follow the official X/Twitter game account to not miss out on any future announcements.
