Learn how you can use new animation tools inside Unreal Engine 5.
Epic Games shared a recording of a session on new animation tools in UE5. Full-Body IK (FBIK) features the tools to create reactive, dynamic characters, and Motion Warping is a new Experimental feature letting users manipulate root motion animations to adapt them to the world with fewer custom assets.
The team originally released UE5 back in May bringing more tools for animators. The engine makes characters in games correct themselves to adjust for variations on the ground below. The engine also introduced a new feature called Animation Motion Warping and some artist-friendly tools like Control Rig to create rigs and share them across multiple characters. You can then pose them in Sequencer, and use the new Pose Browser to save and apply the poses as assets.
