While titles like Diablo 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III won't be joining the service this year, Activision Blizzard has announced its intention to begin adding games to the service starting next year.

As the long-running saga of the Activision-Blizzard-Microsoft acquisition nears its conclusion, it is time to shift our focus toward the future.
Microsoft's monumental deal to acquire Activision Blizzard has faced extensive regulatory scrutiny, particularly in the United States, European Union, and United Kingdom. After making significant concessions to the UK, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft are now on the verge of finalizing the deal, with an anticipated approval from the UK regulator expected this week. Although there is no absolute approval guarantee from the UK regulator, the recent "provisional" approval signifies a highly favorable outcome.
With attention turning to what lies ahead, players are becoming increasingly curious about when they can expect to witness the integration between Activision Blizzard and Xbox. Today, Activision Blizzard has provided a rare glimpse into this future partnership on Twitter.
The company revealed that it has plans to begin adding games to Xbox Game Pass starting next year, with an "anticipated" timeframe. While the specific titles were not mentioned, historically, the publisher has not shown great enthusiasm for placing its major releases on Xbox Game Pass right at their launch. However, considering the vast collection of captivating and beloved titles in Activision Blizzard's vault, their inclusion would undoubtedly enhance the lineup of the service, regardless of the absence of recent releases.
Unfortunately, the highly anticipated games Diablo 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will not be added to the platform this year, disappointing fans who were eagerly awaiting their inclusion.
"While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare® III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year," as the company stated on Twitter.
Blizzard previously ventured into other platforms such as Steam, where they published Overwatch 2. The reception there was not as welcoming as they might expect. However, they are planning to release the upcoming Diablo 4 on the platform hoping for a more positive response and favorable reviews.
