Admire the Power of Unreal Engine 5 in Real-Time Trailer for Gears of War E-Day

Emergence Day is coming.

The Emergence Day is a step closer with a new trailer for Gears of War: E-Day, the upcoming shooter that brings back Dom and Marcus and the events before the first game.

"Experience the brutal horror of Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix in the origin story of one of gaming's most acclaimed sagas.

Fourteen years before Gears of War, war heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. These subterranean monsters, grotesque and relentless, erupt from below, laying siege on humanity itself."

The Coalition

Unreal Engine 5 shows off its capabilities once again in this cinematic fight, shot in-engine.

Notably, E-Day goes back to the old naming, but this is not the end of Gears 5. Yet, it is not a continuation, too. Creative Director Matt Searcy and Brand Director Nicole Fawcette promise to move the story of Kait Diaz one day – just not this time.

The Coalition

"We’re super proud about Gears 4 and Gears 5 and the stories that were told," Fawcette said. "We’re not retreating from that storyline in any way. But in [this] moment, we had an opportunity to write our next step, and this one just felt too good to miss.”

The Coalition

E-day is a full prequel, not just a spin-off, it adds context and detail to the familiar story as well as introduces Locusts that are more "mysterious, formidable, and overwhelming."

"Everything that happens in E-Day will shape the future of Gears of War for the better."

Gears of War: E-Day doesn't have a release date yet, but it will be out on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
