AI-Powered Matte Extraction Plug-In For DaVinci Resolve & Nuke
Evgeniy Shatskiy's tool comes with a 7-day full-feature trial.
Evgeniy Shatskiy has released ONYX AI Matte 2.5, a new version of his GPU-accelerated plug-in for matting, object segmentation, tracking, and mask refinement workflows. It's designed for VFX artists who need "production-quality mattes without hours of manual roto work".
The developer says the plug-in works well for multi-character scenes and complex hair and fur extraction with clean edges. It runs on publicly available Meta's SAM 3 and VitMatte, offering users a total of five pipelines with manual control options. The Text-based discovery instantly detects objects, Points lets you select specific ones, Boxes quickly isolates regions, and multiple tools are available to refine mattes after extraction. ONYX AI Matte can track up to 32 objects.
ONYX AI Matte works with any OFX-compatible application, including DaVinci Resolve, Nuke, or Autodesk Flame. Best of all, it comes with a 7-day full-feature trial with no credit card required, so you can test it and see how well it actually performs for your projects.
