Have you ever wondered what composing music can look like, especially when you're fully immersed in it?

If you haven't, let's find out how Remedy's BAFTA-nominated renowned composer Petri Alanko created music for the long-awaited Alan Wake 2. In a recent interview with NME, Alanko shared that he came to quite extraordinary "toys" to bring Alan Wake's haunting soundtrack to life.

"By now [Remedy] knows I won't leave a stone unturned in order to find something extraordinary," shared Alanko with NME. "I recorded a rusty old cattle fence, burned two pianos, violated one piano with adult toys and triggered a fire alarm, then dropped [a piano] from a forklift onto a concrete floor. By mistake, but still," he jokingly added.

During the interview, Alanko highlighted how employing unconventional methods helped to create compositions that would stick to players' minds and resonate with them, leaving a lasting impact.

Speaking of Alan Wake 2's horror soundtrack, it garnered a nomination at The Game Awards in the Best Score And Music category, but the victory went to Final Fantasy XVI. Alanko's contributions were also longlisted for the BAFTA Games award.

If you aren't familiar with Alanko, as we earlier mentioned, he's the composer for Alan Wake 2 and has an extensive background working on various Remedy titles, including projects such as Control, Quantum Break, Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and Death Rally HD.

Previously, we reported that Remedy has finally obtained full rights for the Control series from publisher 505 Games. You can learn more here.
