Alien: Isolation 2 Will Have Physical Edition, Photo Mode & More
Creative Assembly developers answered players' questions in a new Q&A video.
Alien: Isolation 2, a sequel to the 2014 fan-favorite survival horror, will bring new characters and a story set in a larger world with outdoor spaces and new mechanics. In a 17-minute Q&A video, the developers at Creative Assembly answer players' questions about what to expect from the new Alien game.
As for the release, the team confirmed a physical edition: "Staying true to the analogue nature of Alien is one of our core pillars. Alien: Isolation 2 will have a physical edition," the team shared. This suggests a 2027 release window, before Sony shifts to digital releases in January 2028.
In terms of gameplay, players will have an immersive experience and even feel like they are in an Alien movie: the Xenomorph will be able to hear you through a real-life microphone, and not only on consoles, as before, but also on PC. With that option enabled, any noise from the player's side might give them away.

The upcoming sequel will also feature a detailed photo mode with settings reminiscent of those of a real camera – lighting settings, brightness, exposure, saturation, depth of field, and more. There will also be filters calling back to the first movie, and logos and other details to customize images.

Alien: Isolation 2 centers on a new character, Blake, as she investigates a strange shipwreck on a foreign planet. In the sequel, the development team focuses more on exterior spaces and weather in particular, unlike the previously portrayed claustrophobic environments that are familiar to the franchise's fans.
