The mod turns the game into a sci-fi horror similar to Aliens, System Shock, and F.E.A.R.
A modder Dithered Output released a free demo of their Siren mod for Doom 2. The mod turns the game into a sci-fi horror that reminds players of Aliens, System Shock, and F.E.A.R. It changes almost every aspect of the game – the story, levels, weapons, and enemies.
"Redark 1979 is a habitation prototype established beneath the Mythos ocean on Mars. An interplanetary distress signal draws you to investigate. The site has been dark ever since. Discover. Rescue. Survive. Run!"
Dithered Output says they tried to create "an experience closer to an Aliens game but with the variety and gameplay benefits the roster of Doom monsters brings." Check out the mod's latest trailer to see what it looks like:
Siren features immersive sim elements, cocoons with facehuggers, and Ellen Ripley’s rifle. Dithered Output noted that they use materials from other enthusiasts with attribution. You can download Siren at ModDB and itch.io. You will need a copy of Doom 2 or Final Doom and GZDoom.
