Amazing 3D Scene Created in the Style of Sumi-e Watercolor
Juan Pablo Fuentes Ruiz shared how he created the scene with Blender.
3D Environment Artist Juan Pablo Fuentes Ruiz showcased this fascinating artwork, drawing inspiration from the sumi-e watercolor technique.
The piece won the Blender Discord January Challenge, which was themed "Japan." Juan Pablo Fuentes Ruiz wanted the environment to be full 3D while conveying painterly aesthetics.
The artist created shaders that mixed information from Fresnel, geometry, and normals, combined them with several textures to hide the silhouettes, and applied the painted gradient in the places where there was a change in lighting or face angle.
