Amazon Prime Video is currently negotiating with Sony to develop a live-action TV series based on the PlayStation hit franchise.
Sony's hit action-adventure franchise God of War is reportedly going to get a TV show adaptation. According to sources cited by Deadline, Amazon Prime Video is currently in negotiations with Sony for a live-action TV series based on the PlayStation flagship title.
The series is said to be adapted by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, executive producers behind The Expanse, along with The Wheel of Time executive producer Rafe Judkins. Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions will reportedly be involved in the development, too.
Sony has already had several deals adapting its flagship games for film or TV including The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, recently released Uncharted, and the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie. God of War won't be the first Amazon video game adaptation. Previously, it was also reported that Amazon Studios is working on a Fallout and Mass Effect series.
Sony’s God of War is a long-running PlayStation franchise that began back in 2005 on PlayStation 2. However, most likely the TV series will be based on the most recent 2018 incarnation from Sony Santa Monica Studios that centers on the story that follows the conclusion of the original trilogy. The next title in the series will be God of War: Ragnarok, which is expected to be released later this year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
