They come in two variants and promise high-performance handheld gaming.
AMD announced two Ryzen Z1 Series processors for handheld PCs. Standard Z1 has six Zen 4 CPU cores with 12 threads, four RDNA 3 compute units, and 22MB of cache. Z1 Extreme offers eight cores with 16 threads, 12 compute units, and 24MB of cache. Both models have a TDP of 15-30W.
The chipsets bring AMD Radeon Super Resolution upscaling, Radeon Chill, Radeon Image Sharpening and AMD Link.
You will have a chance to test the processors in ASUS's ROG Ally when it comes out. While many think of it as the Steam Deck killer, the TDP introduced with the Ryzen Z1 Series and the fact we still don't know the price are concerning.
But the latter will not stay a secret much longer: according to AMD's press release, ASUS will announce the handheld's pricing and other information on May 11 (via The Verge).
