The processors feature 16 cores, 32 threads, and a TSMC 5nm process node.
AMD announced its Ryzen 7000 Series processors powered by the new Zen 4 architecture. Featuring up to 16 cores, 32 threads and built on an optimized, high-performance, TSMC 5nm process node, the CPUs promise fast performance and great energy efficiency.
“The AMD Ryzen 7000 Series brings leadership gaming performance, extraordinary power for content creation, and advanced scalability with the new AMD Socket AM5,” said Saeid Moshkelani, senior vice president and general manager, Client business unit, AMD. “With the next generation Ryzen 7000 Series Desktop processors, we are proud to uphold our promise of leadership and continuous innovation, delivering the ultimate PC experience for gamers and creators alike.”
Ryzen 7000 Series' Zen 4 delivers a 13% IPC uplift over Zen 3. The new CPUs' single thread performance is also 29% higher compared to Ryzen 5000, with an up to 5.7GHz boost.
AMD claimed that Ryzen 7000 Ryzen 9 7950X delivers 62% higher performance compared to Intel's Core i9-12900K and achieves this at 47% better performance-per-watt. It also shows 11% faster single thread performance and 44% faster multi-thread performance, according to the company.
Apart from Ryzen 9 7950X, AMD will launch three other models initially: 7900X, 7700X, and 7600X with $699, $549, $399, and $299 price tags respectively.
The processors are expected to be available globally beginning September 27, starting from $299. The new X670 and X670 Extreme motherboards will launch at the same time, starting at $125.
