AMD To Pay The Blender Development Fund $120,000/Year

AMD is the next Corporate Patron of the Blender Development Fund.

The firm is said to contribute $120,000/year to support the development of the open-source 3D tool. The money will be used to develop support for the Vulkan graphics API within Blender.

AMD's deal is similar to support from Nvidia and a $1.2 million grant from the Unreal Engine team.

"AMD is proud to join the Blender Foundation Development Fund as a Patron, contributing to the success of Blender's excellent open-source tools and keeping AMD technologies well supported for all users," posted the company on Twitter.

The Blender Foundation noted that one of the goals here is to support Vulkan migration. Vulkan should enable developers to write high-performance graphics tools that run on all of the major operating systems/
