"IP holders are sitting on a wealth of content."

Remakes and remasters have become increasingly popular in the last couple of years, but there are still more games that are "ripe" for a restart, according to the analytics firm Ampere Analysis.
The company found out that remakes and remasters released across 2024 and 2025 attracted 72.4 million players across Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam, who spent $1.4 billion on games and microtransactions (via VGC).
Its senior analyst Katie Holt named 18 games that should do well if they are upgraded: "IP holders are sitting on a wealth of content ripe for remakes and remasters."
Remake
- Assassin’s Creed
- Chrono Trigger
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Fallout
- Rayman Origins
- Resident Evil 5
- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

Holt offered some justification for the firm's choice. For example, God of War was released 20 years ago, and over this time, the gameplay in the series has been refined.
Bloodborne would benefit from a remaster rather than a remake because players' preferences "have not seen a massive shift" since the last generation, "so a gameplay or narrative overhaul is not necessary."
The original Fallout would need a more extensive facelift, as today, its "control system, user interface and combat may be considered outdated by some," and gameplay changed would have to be done to compete with modern RPGs.
Fallout New Vegas, however, would only need a remaster because its "narrative legacy comes from its consequence-driven dialogue choices."
